Floating market Buffet tour with Chalida

If you want to experience one of the most unique aspects of Thai culture, you should definitely book the floating market tour with us. Thailand’s oldest communities are based on the river and boats were used in the past to bring trade, the locals would then barter directly from the floating vendors. Bangkok has a lot of canals so there used to be a lot of these communities scattered around. With our floating market tour, you will get to experience what it was like to go grocery shopping in the old times. Our floating market tour consists of 4 different floating markets, and you can mix and match them so that you can visit multiple places. You will also get a boat tour of any of the markets you decide to visit. The 4 floating market locations are:

Taling Chan Floating Market:

Taling Chan Floating Market

Taling Chan Floating market is located in front of the Taling Chan district office, it is situated a little bit outside of the city but it’s close enough. Taling Chan Floating market is not so big but it has a lot of vendors on boats cooking food on it so it is a good place to enjoy some local Thai foods and snacks. There are many stalls and vendors selling other things such as clothing or household goods however, most of the market is dedicated to food. You can find everything from unique local delicacies such as “Kha Nom Sai” which is a shredded coconut and palm sugar covered with steamed flour and some coconut cream wrapped in a banana leaf, all the way to grilled seafood and the world famous “som tum.” If you’ve never released an animal to freedom before, you can try it here as they have live turtles, fish and eels being sold in order for you to release them into the water to “get merit.” If you love eating and you do not want to go too far out of Bangkok then this is definitely a good choice.

Klong Lad Mayom Floating Market:

Klong Lad Mayom Floating market

This is one of the best floating markets in Bangkok, providing you with a truly authentic Thai experience. This market is also located in Talingchan district. The Klong Lad Mayom floating market is big and offers a large variety of local and authentic Thai food. One thing to note is that this market doesn’t have tons of boat vendors floating around as the non-floating part of the market is much bigger, however, the ambience and the sheer amount of food and fresh produce this market offers is second to none. This floating market also has a more local vibe as it is not as touristy as some of the other ones. Plenty of shops here sell retail goods such as clothing and even handmade souvenir shops. There is also a fish spa available for those of you who want to try it. Overall, there are tons of foods available with plenty of produce for really cheap prices so this is the market for you if you want to spend your time eating and trying out different Thai delicacies, however if you want to visit the most authentic floating market with lots of boat vendors then this might not be for you.

Maeklong Railway Market:

Floating market Buffet tour with Chalida

This is not a floating market but it offers just as much of a unique experience. This market is located in Samut Songkhram province on the gulf of Thailand and is around 2 hrs drive from Bangkok. Fishing is one of the main livelihoods of people living there and this market is a way for them to distribute their catch, however, officials decided to build railway tracks that cut straight through the market. Throughout the day, the vendors will temporarily pack up their shops to allow trains to pass and then unpack again. This is one of the most unique markets that you can experience and it is the only market with a train that goes straight through the market in Thailand. Vendors are laid along the rail tracks and the produce you are about to devour is almost run over by the train when it passes. The major attraction of the market is the train crossing, however, the Maeklong is actually one of the largest fresh seafood markets in Thailand. There are also foods and drinks available however there are no souvenir shops as it is mostly a seafood market. If you do not mind the long drive, this is a must visit and you will definitely get an unforgettable experience and tons of photos to show your friends back home and every single one of them will be shocked and amazed. (NOTE: MAEKLONG MARKET AND DAMNEON SADUAK FLOATING MARET ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A WHOLE DAY TRIP BY ITSELF (8 HRS)).
