Grand Palace

Established in 1782 after King Rama I ascended to the throne. The prior palace and center of administration had been located in Thonburi. The new places were built not only as his residence but also as the site of administrative offices. It covers an area of 218,000 square meters and is surrounded by four walls, 1900 meters in length.

Phra Ubosoth or the chapel of the Emerald Buddha

Phra Ubosoth or the chapel of the Emerald Buddha. It has been built by King Rama in 1782. It’s the origination hall in real Thai style. The outside wall of the building is decorated with gilt and color glass mosaics. There are 112 Garudas (king of birds) holding Nagas or serpents used as a carrier (bearers) of the chapel. The painting on the wall behind emerald Buddha represented the scene of Buddhist cosmology: heaven, earth, and hell. The painting is painted in the first reign of Bangkok, have never been repainted. But the two side wall, display the life of Buddha has repaired during the reign of King Rama III.

The Emerald Buddha has discovered in1464 it made in 15 century in Chiang Rai then it took to Laos in 1552 stayed there until 1778 then to here in 1784. There are 3 different costumes of Buddha of each season, rainy, summer and winter.

The demon guardians

6 pair of them who are guarding against evil spirits.  This demons status were created in King Rama III. The character in Rammakian story the most important literature in the reign of King Rama I.

The statue of Cheewok Komaraphat 

He was a doctor of the Lord Buddha and now he is regarded as the father of Thai herbal medicine.

Phra Siratana Chedi

Was built by King Rama 4. Inside the relics of the Lord Buddha are enshrined.

Phra Bussabok

Glut pavilions on the pillars contain the royal emblem of all king in BKK.Chedi is one worthy of veneration.

Model of Angor Wat

the Khmer temple in Cambodia. It is an impressive example of Khmer architecture of the 12th century. King Mongkut or King Rama IV had it built for his subjects to see what the Khmer ruins looked like. The original Angor Wat in Cambodia was built by king Suriya Varman II. the real one is gigantic, around 1,000 meters length and 800 meters width.

The ticket fee is 500 THB. No fee for Thai. Last time ticket sold is 3.00 p.m

Suggestion:

– Should wear long pants or skirt. No sleeveless shirt for both men and women.
– Prepare umbrella, sunglasses, and hat because during daytime is very hot. Also, a camera with a full battery and extra memory because you don’t want to miss taking the nice picture.
